Ghaziabad Indrapuram Massive Fire Break out

Massive Fire at Gaur Green Avenue in Indirapuram: Residents Rescued Safely

Ghaziabad | April 29, 2026 — A major fire broke out on Wednesday morning at the Gaur Green Avenue society in the Abhay Khand area of Indirapuram. The blaze, which started in a high-rise tower, triggered panic throughout the residential complex. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that no lives were lost.

How the Incident Started

The fire reportedly began around 8:30 AM in Tower D. According to fire department officials, the flames originated in a flat on the 9th floor and rapidly spread to the 10th and 11th floors. Thick black smoke could be seen from several kilometers away, including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Residents were getting ready for work and school when the smoke was first noticed. Within minutes, the society's security alarms were raised, and people began rushing down the stairs to safety.

Quick Response and Heroic Rescue

The Ghaziabad Fire Department acted quickly, rushing more than 17 fire tenders to the spot. Because the fire was on a high floor, hydraulic platforms were used to reach the flames.

The most critical moment of the morning was the rescue of an elderly man on oxygen support. Firefighters managed to reach him and bring him down on a stretcher safely. Several other residents who were trapped in their flats due to the smoke were also successfully evacuated.

Damage and Suspected Cause

By 10:30 AM, the fire was largely brought under control. Preliminary reports suggest:

8 to 12 flats have been partially or fully damaged.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though a detailed investigation is still ongoing.

High winds in the morning likely contributed to the flames spreading between floors.

A Reminder for High-Rise Safety

This incident has once again highlighted the importance of fire safety in high-rise buildings. Residents are advised to:

Check electrical wiring and AC units regularly, especially during the summer months.

Ensure that society fire systems (hoses and extinguishers) are in working condition.

Never use elevators during a fire; always take the stairs.

The local administration and Chief Minister's office have taken note of the incident, directing officials to provide all necessary relief to the affected families.
